I made this solo paper rpg on a whim, after seeing that that One Page Jam is back this year. I used Canva, though I'm not really sure how other people went about it. 

This game is inspired by my recent spiral into terrariums and vivariums. This led to me having the idea of making a vivarium/ecosphere dating simulator where the player dates the guardian spirit/ the walking human equivalent of a living ecosystem. Like the love interest is a nature-inspired spirit in a puffed up lolita-dress that is shaped like a jar tank that contains water, plants and swimming organisms like shrimp, and her heart events are tied to changes in the ecosystem (eg. she loves discovering the shrimp and feels bad that they die off, her hair is based off the growth of the water plants etc). Another idea will be a terrarium dating sim where the player enters a terrarium and dates the things in there, kind of like the Date Everything game. 

So this idea is like a super toned down, paper rpg version of that. I've been going out for walks in nature lately, and I wanted to make a game which I could do while being out. I didn't want to make something too text-heavy since it's supposed to complement the walk and not replace it, so I made a huge overhaul. The original document is a lot longer and includes things like character generation (from objects/ creatures/ plants you see while walking), tracks distance/time of walking to introduce special events and a portion dedicated to fleshing out the player character's backstory. It became so long that I knew that I'd have a hard time jamming everything into a page, especially as these things aren't exactly about dating plants. I might make another (longer) outdoor paper rpg that has these things in the future.

Either way, I'm tired. I'm not going to finish that visual novel for sunofes so it's going into development purgatory. I'm saving up and planning for my spooktober entry.
